Apple has recently released the new version of its operating system named iOS 17. iOS 17 is available as a free download and is compatible with iPhone models from the X series onwards, along with the second- and third-generation iPhone SE. Additionally, Apple has simultaneously introduced significant updates to watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS on the same day.

In my opinion, StandBy in iOS 17 is a game-changer, enhancing the way we interact with our iPhones during charging. Its ability to display a range of information, from customizable clock styles to Live Activities and notifications, brings a new level of functionality and personalization. The Always-On display and Night Mode add to the appeal, making StandBy both practical and visually striking. Plus, the convenience of remembering your preferred view on MagSafe chargers ensures a seamless experience. StandBy represents a thoughtful addition to iOS 17 that adds value to our daily lives.

With NameDrop, you can exchange contact info and more by just bringing your iPhones close. Share content or enjoy SharePlay for music, movies, and games together. Soon, AirDrop will work over the internet, extending sharing beyond close range.

iOS 17 brings significant updates to Safari with separate browsing profiles, enhanced password sharing, and important mental health features in the Health app. Maps introduces offline maps and EV charging information.

How to Safely Update to iOS 17

1- Backup Your Device

Before proceeding with any update, it’s essential to back up your device to safeguard your data. There are two methods for this:

2- iCloud Backup

Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Tap on your account information at the top of the screen, then select your device name. Ensure your iCloud backup is up to date by checking the backup status.

3- Manual Backup to Your Computer

You can also connect your iOS device to your computer to perform a manual backup. Use Finder (on macOS) or iTunes (on Windows) for this purpose.

4- Update to iOS 17

Once your backup is complete, proceed with the iOS 17 update:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Navigate to “General.”
  • Select “Software Update.”
