Appearance and usability

Realme Narzo 30 5G comes in a stylishly designed solid cardboard box with no fuss or color. The company has done a rebranding by adding new colors to its palette. It turned out very nice.

The Realme Narzo 30 5G comes with an 18W wall charger and a flexible transparent protective case.

Realme Narzo 30 5G is decorate in a standard way, but at the same time, it is not devoid of zest in the form of a strip that has already become a proprietary “chip” that adorns the back. In this case, it has an iridescent geometric pattern in the form of arrows. The body is plastic and lacquers, but the side frame is matte, not easily soiled or slippery.

In any case, the complete transparent case will solve all problems – both with the brand lacquered back and the issue of the smartphone shaking on the table due to protruding cameras. And its noticeably protruding front edges will reliably protect the screen glass from everyday scratches. The case is robust, but of course, adds bulk to an already large device.

The device is not small: it is a relatively broad and weighty smartphone, rather large than comfortable for the hand. In addition, they did not save on thickness: the body is thick.

Hidden behind around cutout

The front camera is hide behind a round cutout. In the screen matrix, not in the center but the corner. It is much better than in the center: it does not loom in front of your eyes and visually saves more space. Too bad there is no event LED.

Where it belongs, it is easy to grope. It works quickly and flawlessly. There are no complaints.

The card slot is triple, so you don’t have to sacrifice either Nano-SIM card to install a memory card. Hot-swap of cards is supported.

There is nothing on the top.

Bottom assembled USB Type-C connector, speaker, ear microphone, 3.5 mm headphone output.

Screen narzo 30 5g

The Realme narzo 30 5G smartphone has a 6.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 × 2400, covered by a flat glass without curled edges. The physical dimensions of the screen are 68 × 151 mm.

The Realme Narzo 30 5G screen is noticeably darker (the brightness in the photos is 102 versus 110 for the Nexus 7). which is about the same efficiency as the well-worn Nexus 7, which is quite average by modern standards.

, it rises to 530 cd / m². As a result, given the excellent anti-reflective properties, daytime readability in the sun should be at an acceptable level. Suppose you don’t interfere, then in complete darkness. In that case, the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 4 cd / m2 (low), in an office lit with artificial light (about 550 lx) sets it to 120 cd / m2 (typical). Conventionally in direct sunlight, the brightness reaches 530 cd / m2 (higher than the maximum with manual adjustment).

Slightly increased the brightness

We slightly increased the brightness in complete darkness, and for the above three conditions, we got 20, 135, and 530 cd / m². This result was satisfactory for us. N an office illuminated with artificial light (approximately 550 lux), it sets to 120 cd / m² (standard), and conventionally in direct sunlight, the brightness reaches 530 cd / m² (which is higher than the maximum with manual adjustment). So, we slightly increased the brightness in complete darkness, and for the above three conditions, we got 20, 135, and 530 cd / m².

We slightly increased the brightness in complete darkness, and for the above three conditions, we got 20, 135, and 530 cd / m².

This result was satisfactory also for us. For comparison, here are the photos in which the screens of Realme Narzo 30 5G and Nexus 7 display the same images.

White field perpendicular to screens:

Note the excellent uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field.

And the test picture:

The colors on the Realme narzo 30 5G screen are over-saturate, and the color balance of the screens varies.

There are only two profiles:

In the case of the Tenderness profile, the saturation is better:

Saturation is normal, no increase in color also contrast is observed.

Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and the side of the screen:

When deviated along the diagonal, the black field brightens up strongly but remains conventionally neutral-gray (this is how the eyes perceive it).

The contrast (approximately in the center of the screen) is high – about 1100: 1. So the response time for the transition black-white-black is 17 ms (9 ms on + 8 ms off). The transition between gray tones of 25% and 75% (based on the numerical value of the color) and back takes a total of 27 ms. The gamma curve plotted using 32 points with equal intervals in terms of the numerical value of the shade of gray,

This device has a dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness following the nature of the displayed image – in a very dark embodiment in the middle, the backlight brightness decreases slightly. As a result, the obtained dependence of the shine on the hue (gamma curve) does not strictly correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with a sequential display of shades of gray on almost the entire screen.

For this reason, several tests – determining the contrast and response time, comparing the black illumination at angles – we carried out (however, as always) when displaying unique templates with constant average brightness and not single-color fields across the entire screen.

For a consumer device, a wide color gamut is a disadvantage. As a result, the colors of images – drawings, photographs, and films – oriented to the sRGB space (and the overwhelming majority of them) have an unnatural saturation. It is especially noticeable on recognizable shades, such as skin tones. When you select the Tenderness profile, the coverage is compressed to the sRGB borders.

This is achieved through significant cross mixing of the components:

By default, the color temperature is higher than the standard 6500 K. In principle. This device can correct the color balance by adjusting the hue:

However, after correction, the color gamut magically resets to wide, regardless of the Screen Color Mode setting. Conversely, when selecting a color gamut profile, the Screen Color Temperature setting is reset to its default value. It remains below 10, which is considered a good indicator for a consumer device. At the same time,

In principle, bright light can violate the daily (circadian) rhythm, but everything is solved by reducing the brightness to a low but still comfortable level. It is permissible (and even necessary in bright light) to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. The advantages of the screen include the absence of an air gap in the layers of the screen and flicker, high contrast (1100: 1), acceptable color balance, and a color gamut close to sRGB (if the correct profile is selected). The disadvantages are low stability of black to a deviation of gaze from the perpendicular to the plane of the screen and non-switchable dynamic brightness adjustment.

Camera narzo 30 5g

Realme narzo 30 5G has three cameras on the back, assembled into a single unit, as well as a bright, LED flash. But, only one camera shoots (but it is 48-megapixel), and the other two are auxiliary.

48 MP, f / 1.8, 26mm, PDAF (main)

2 MP, f / 2.4 (macro)

2 MP, f / 2.4 (scene depth)

The shooting control interface is its own. It is generally similar to all Realme smartphones, but there are some simplifications regarding the interface of more expensive devices. For example, there is no pop-up menu in video mode with a choice of resolutions and frame rates. But it is very convenient to switch between 48 and 12-megapixel resolutions in photo mode. The corresponding item is displayed in the most prominent place on the viewfinder screen, in the scrollable bottom menu.

Additional methods include, as usual, automatic HDR, color filters, and a switchable AI enhancement. The ability to save images in RAW does not appear, even with switching to manual control mode. Toy Tilt-shift, by the way, is missing here.

Autofocus behaves adequately

Fast phase detection autofocus behaves adequately. When shooting, but the camera does not have an optical stabilizer. There is no point in shooting in 48-megapixel mode. The picture is fragile in detail, with huge pixelated blocks and some ultimately unsuccessful anti-aliasing algorithms (look at the oblique lines). In 12-megapixel mode.

The quality is also not outstanding, but still acceptable for an inexpensive smartphone. It will be enough for simple sketches on a sunny day. And even night photos will go to Instagram. Of the apparent shortcomings — traces of the same pixilation in the frame area with excellent details (and generally low detail) and insufficient dynamic range of images. At the same time, everything is fine with the flowers, they are not too juicy, instead of natural, and the noise in daytime photos is invisible.

video camera can shoot at a maximum resolution

The video camera can shoot at a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps. The stabilization is only electronic. In general, the video quality of the smartphone is average.

  • Movie # 1 (1920 × 1080 @ 30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Movie # 2 (1920 × 1080 @ 30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Movie # 3 (1920 × 1080 @ 30 fps, H.264, AAC)

The selfie camera with a 16-megapixel sensor does not shine with the breadth of the matrix’s dynamic range: there are apparent overexposure and blockages in the shadows. The colors are not entirely natural. The detail is not very significant. In general, this is not the best Realme selfie camera, but it is suitable for its primary use, thanks to the headroom.

Telephone part and communications narzo 30 5g

In theory, the modem included in the new MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC should support 4G LTE Cat.18 networks with a maximum download speed of up to 1200 Mbps. Still, there is no information on this topic in the official specs. Among the supported LTE frequencies, there are all the most common bands in Russia. The smartphone also supports 5G networks.

There are Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a / b / g / n / ac) and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless adapters. The presence of the NFC module allows you to use contactless payment through Google Pay or any other similar service.

The first satellites are detected quickly, even with a cold start. The positioning accuracy is not a problem.

Software and multimedia narzo 30 5g

Realme Narzo 30 5G runs on Android OS 11 with a proprietary shell Realme UI 2.0. The interface is neatly designed, laconic. At the same time, there is everything necessary here for those who like to delve into the settings. Google Play store preinstalled, Google services in place.

The smartphone has one speaker for playing music, sounding movies, and playing games. It produces average sound quality but is not bad against the background of the total mass of smartphones of the same level. There is no Dolby Atmos support here; an alternative sound enhancement technology is implemented – Real Sound. It has a full-fledged music player.

Performance narzo 30 5g

Realme Narzo 30 5G is powered by MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G SoC with 8 processor cores (2 × Cortex-A76 @ 2.2 GHz + 6 × Cortex-A55 @ 2.0 GHz). GPU – Mali-G57 MC2.

The RAM is 4 GB, and the storage is 128 GB. You can install a memory card on a smartphone. It supports connecting external devices to the USB Type-C port in USB OTG mode.

SoC MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G was announced on November 10, 2020, and is manufactured using a 7-nanometer process technology. It is not a top-end but a solid mid-tier mobile platform that combines relatively high performance with reasonable power consumption. According to tests, it is approximately at the most popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G (732G) level. The smartphone gives decent results in trials, copes with games without problems and slowdowns.

Heat narzo 30 5g

The heating is higher in the upper part of the device, which corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heating chamber, the maximum heating was 40 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees). This is the average heating in this test for modern smartphones.

Video playback narzo 30 5g

An external device’s image and sound output when connected to the USB port ( report by usbview.exe ) Therefore, we had to confine ourselves to testing the production of video files on the device’s screen.
