Realme Narzo 30 5G comes in a stylishly designed solid cardboard box with no fuss or color. The company has done a rebranding by adding new colors to its palette. It turned out very nice.

Realme Narzo 30 5G is decorate in a standard way, but at the same time, it is not devoid of zest in the form of a strip that has already become a proprietary “chip” that adorns the back. In this case, it has an iridescent geometric pattern in the form of arrows. The body is plastic and lacquers, but the side frame is matte, not easily soiled or slippery.
In any case, the complete transparent case will solve all problems – both with the brand lacquered back and the issue of the smartphone shaking on the table due to protruding cameras. And its noticeably protruding front edges will reliably protect the screen glass from everyday scratches. The case is robust, but of course, adds bulk to an already large device.
The device is not small: it is a relatively broad and weighty smartphone, rather large than comfortable for the hand. In addition, they did not save on thickness: the body is thick.
Hidden behind around cutout
The front camera is hide behind a round cutout. In the screen matrix, not in the center but the corner. It is much better than in the center: it does not loom in front of your eyes and visually saves more space. Too bad there is no event LED.
Where it belongs, it is easy to grope. It works quickly and flawlessly. There are no complaints.

The Realme narzo 30 5G smartphone has a 6.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 × 2400, covered by a flat glass without curled edges. The physical dimensions of the screen are 68 × 151 mm.

This device has a dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness following the nature of the displayed image – in a very dark embodiment in the middle, the backlight brightness decreases slightly. As a result, the obtained dependence of the shine on the hue (gamma curve) does not strictly correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with a sequential display of shades of gray on almost the entire screen.
For this reason, several tests – determining the contrast and response time, comparing the black illumination at angles – we carried out (however, as always) when displaying unique templates with constant average brightness and not single-color fields across the entire screen.
For a consumer device, a wide color gamut is a disadvantage. As a result, the colors of images – drawings, photographs, and films – oriented to the sRGB space (and the overwhelming majority of them) have an unnatural saturation. It is especially noticeable on recognizable shades, such as skin tones. When you select the Tenderness profile, the coverage is compressed to the sRGB borders.

In principle, bright light can violate the daily (circadian) rhythm, but everything is solved by reducing the brightness to a low but still comfortable level. It is permissible (and even necessary in bright light) to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. The advantages of the screen include the absence of an air gap in the layers of the screen and flicker, high contrast (1100: 1), acceptable color balance, and a color gamut close to sRGB (if the correct profile is selected). The disadvantages are low stability of black to a deviation of gaze from the perpendicular to the plane of the screen and non-switchable dynamic brightness adjustment.

Realme narzo 30 5G has three cameras on the back, assembled into a single unit, as well as a bright, LED flash. But, only one camera shoots (but it is 48-megapixel), and the other two are auxiliary.

The shooting control interface is its own. It is generally similar to all Realme smartphones, but there are some simplifications regarding the interface of more expensive devices. For example, there is no pop-up menu in video mode with a choice of resolutions and frame rates. But it is very convenient to switch between 48 and 12-megapixel resolutions in photo mode. The corresponding item is displayed in the most prominent place on the viewfinder screen, in the scrollable bottom menu.
Additional methods include, as usual, automatic HDR, color filters, and a switchable AI enhancement. The ability to save images in RAW does not appear, even with switching to manual control mode. Toy Tilt-shift, by the way, is missing here.
Autofocus behaves adequately
Fast phase detection autofocus behaves adequately. When shooting, but the camera does not have an optical stabilizer. There is no point in shooting in 48-megapixel mode. The picture is fragile in detail, with huge pixelated blocks and some ultimately unsuccessful anti-aliasing algorithms (look at the oblique lines). In 12-megapixel mode.
The quality is also not outstanding, but still acceptable for an inexpensive smartphone. It will be enough for simple sketches on a sunny day. And even night photos will go to Instagram. Of the apparent shortcomings — traces of the same pixilation in the frame area with excellent details (and generally low detail) and insufficient dynamic range of images. At the same time, everything is fine with the flowers, they are not too juicy, instead of natural, and the noise in daytime photos is invisible.
video camera can shoot at a maximum resolution
The video camera can shoot at a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps. The stabilization is only electronic. In general, the video quality of the smartphone is average.
