Snapchat Users Negative Reviews Over New My AI Feature

Snapchat’s My AI assistant has been making waves in the tech world recently, but not in a good way. After initially offering the feature only to premium Snapchat+ subscribers, the company recently announced that it would make My AI available to all users. However, users aren’t happy with the change, as the feature is automatically pinned to the top of the chat feed, and there’s no way to remove it.

According to TechCrunch, Snapchat users are flooding the App Store with 1-star reviews in protest of the My AI chatbot. The bot uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology to answer trivia questions, offer buying advice, give travel recommendations, and suggest recipes, among other things. However, users are finding it frustrating that they can’t opt out of the feature or move it down in the chat feed.

There’s a catch to unpinning My AI from your chat feed, as it seems that only Snapchat+ subscribers can unpin or remove it. The company said, “Snapchat+ subscribers receive early access to new My AI features, and have the ability to unpin or remove My AI from their Chat feed.” For non-paying subscribers, the My AI bot will remain pinned at the top of the chat feed without any way to remove it.

The backlash against My AI has caused Snapchat’s average rating in the App Store to drop to 1.67 stars, with 75% of reviews being 1-star. Despite the backlash, Snapchat has yet to comment on the matter. It remains unclear if or when the ability to remove the chatbot from the chat feed will be available to non-paying subscribers.
